Guaire Aidne of Connacht

Guaire Aidne mac Colmáin

A King of Connacht, Ireland, in the early seventh century.

Guaire Aidne is best known for his association with early Irish literature and particularly for his patronage of poets, scholars, and bards. He is celebrated in several ancient Irish texts, where he is depicted as a generous and hospitable king.

He is said to be the father of the beautiful Créd, who became the wife of the elderly Marcán, and the ill-fated lover of Cano.
