Libers of Traverain

Treverain, Treverin

Count of Traverain and a vassal of Arthur.

He is first mentioned by Chrétien de Troyes, but not named until Hartmann von Aue’s Erec. He was summoned by Arthur to the wedding of Erec and Enide. Chrétien added that he brought with him one hundred knights.

Note
By the 18th and 19th centuries, the prefix “Tre-” was considered to mark a native of Cornwall.
