Cyledyr the Wild

Kyledyr

An Arthurian warrior who was the son of Nwython.

Cyledyr was loyal to the warrior Gwythyr (Gwythr), and joined Gwythyr’s army during a war against Gwynn son of Nudd. He and his father Nwython were taken prisoner by Gwynn. Gwynn killed Nwython and forced Cyledyr to eat his father’s heart, which drove Cyledyr mad. He was freed when Arthur intervened and liberated the fortress.

Cyledyr was present during the hunting of Twrch Trwyth, and it was he who seized the shears from between the boar’s ears at the river Severn.
