Suffragan of Carlisle

It was the suffragan of Carlisle who finally baptized Sir Palomides the Saracen at Tristan’s behest.

A suffragan bishop is a type of bishop within certain Christian denominations, primarily the Anglican Communion and some other Protestant tradition. Suffragan bishops serve under and assist the jurisdiction of a higher-ranking bishop known as a diocesan bishop. The term “suffragan” is derived from the Latin suffragari, which means to support or assist.
