The castle of the knight Persides the Red.

Persides locked up his wife, Elaine the Peerless (Helaine), in the castle, for five years, when she claimed that she was more beautiful than he was valiant. He agreed to let her go as soon as a more valiant knight or a more beautiful woman came along, thus settling the argument. Arthur’s knight Hector des Mares (Ector de Maris) came to the castle and, through combat with Persides, decided the conflict in favor of Elaine.
