KENTIGERN, SAINT
Saint Mungo
The royal virgin Thenew, daughter of the Scots King Lothus, had the misfortune to give birth to Kentigern in 518, Glennie reports.
Her story of an immaculate conception notwithstanding, she was placed in a boat and cast adrift from Aberlady Bay. Kentigern was put into Culross monastery under the discipline of Saint Servanus.
If King Lothus was the Arthurian King Lot, then his daughter would have been Gawaine's sister, and Kentigern would have been Gawaine's nephew!
