Love Potion

The Queen of Ireland entrusted this, in a little flasket of gold, to Dame Bragwaine and Gouvernail when Tristram came to take the Queen's daughter, La Beale Isoud, to Mark.

John William Waterhouse, c. 1619

Bragwaine and Gouvernail were to see that Mark and Isoud drank it on their wedding day. Tristram and Isoud found it one day on the ship and, thinking it was simply good wine that Gouvernail and Bragwaine had been keeping for themselves, drank it and loved.
