Titans

The first race of heavenly beings: the six sons and six daughters born to Gaea the deep-breasted earth and Uranus the starlit sky who was both her husband and her son.

The twelve Titans, who were like enormous human beings of great physical splendour, created most of the universe and its beings including the first men. Their own children became the gods of Olympus.

The reign of the Titans ended with Zeus, the son of Cronos, led a family revolt against his father and uncles. In the subsequent cosmic war the gods buried many of the Titans beneath the earth, punished Atlas by making him bear the heavens on his shoulders throughout eternity, and allowed only a few of the Titans to remain in Olympus.
