Annas

In two sixteenth-century English versions of Joseph of Arimathea’s life, the Jew Annas is one of Joseph’s jailers in Jerusalem.

Caiaphas, mentioned in the Vulgate texts, is his companion.

Annas, a priest, appears as one of Christ’s accusers before Pilate in the apocryphal Gospel of Nicodemus.
