A Noble Family#

Aces was the son of Ales and the brother of Alon. He also counted Duke Galescalain of Clarence among his relatives, a connection that would later influence his career.

The Saxon Wars#

In the troubled years following Arthur’s accession, Aces joined the brothers Yvain in the struggle against the Saxons. The conflict formed part of Arthur’s efforts to secure his kingdom against external threats and rebellious forces.

Amid these campaigns, Aces proved his worth as a warrior and loyal supporter of the young king.

A Knight of the Round Table#

Arthur rewarded Aces for his service by dubbing him a knight and granting him a place among the fellowship of the Round Table.

His elevation reflects a recurring theme in Arthurian romance, where courage and loyalty in battle could earn a young nobleman honour, status, and a place among the king’s companions.

Constable of Clarence#

Ace’s fortunes continued to rise through the support of his cousin, Duke Galescalain of Clarence. Recognizing his abilities, the duke appointed him constable of the duchy, entrusting him with responsibility for its defence and administration.
