Acoriondes was one of the noble Greek companions who accompanied Alexander of Greece from Constantinople to the court of King Arthur in Chrétien de Troyes’ romance Cligés.

A Companion of Alexander#
Acoriondes belonged to the company of Greek nobles who accompanied Alexander from Constantinople to Britain. Their arrival at Arthur’s court strengthened the king’s forces and illustrated a far-reaching reputation of Arthur’s kingdom, which attracted allies from distant lands.
Knighted by Arthur#
When Count Angrs of Windsor rebelled against Arthur, the king knighted Alexander’s companions so they could fight beside his own household knights.
Acoriondes distinguished himself during the campaign, remaining among Alexander’s loyal followers throughout the conflict.
Return to Greece#
After peace had been restored in Britain, Acoriondes accompanied Alexander back to Greece.
Upon landing at Athens, he rode ahead to inform Alis of Greece, who had been mistakenly crowned emperor, that Alexander had returned to claim his rightful inheritance. His message marked the beginning of the conflict that followed in the Byzantine Empire.
