Cole

    1. Cole

      Another name for Kalet.

    2. Cole, Old King

It is almost certain that the Old King Cole of nursery rhyme had his origins in Coel, for this possibly historical character had the adjective hen (old) applied to him.

Whether he was actually a 'merry old soul' though is open to speculation. The traditional rhyme is as follows:

Old King Cole was a merry old soul,
And a merry old soul he was.
He called for his pipe, and he called for his bowl,
And he called for his fiddlers three.

Every fiddler had a fiddle fine,
And a very fine fiddler had he, had he.
Tweedle dum, tweedle dee, went the fiddlers three,
Tweedle dum dee, dum dee deedle dee.

Tweedle dum, tweedle dee, went the fiddlers three,
Tweedle dum dee, dum dee deedle dee.
