Glouchedon

Glacedon, Glevum, Glocedon, Glocedun, Gloceidon, Glocedoine, Glocedon, Glocedun, Glochedon

A castle mentioned in the Vulgate romances. It was situated in northern Britain on the forest of Gloeven.

Its lord fought with other regional rulers against the Saxons. Much later, it was visited by Bors, who rescued its lady, Blevine (Benigne de Glocedon), from a group of peasants and a knight.

According to Arthour and Merlin, it belonged to Lot.

Gawaine declared he would not have parted with his fresh-won horse Gringolet for this castle. From the name, Glouchedon might be Gloucester (Roman name: Glevum) or Colchester.

Probably identical with Glouchedon is the castle of Glochedon, the chatelaine of which was a cousin of the Damsel of Hongrefort Castle. Hongrefort was in or near the forest of Landoine.

Glocedon Castle seems to have been near Galdon Castle, and probably both would have been within easy reach of Hongrefort.
