Elementals

Since the sixteenth century alchemist Paracelsus (1493-1541) days we have known that faery creatures are formed from the subtlest ingredients of the four elements. Thus they are also known as 'elementals'.

Water
Mermaids, water spirits, naiads and nixies exist in seas, oceans, rivers, torrents, fountains and springs.

Air
Faeries and goblins - the most transparent of the fairy creatures - exist in air, wind and clouds.

Earth
The Little People, dwarfs, mineral spirits and gnomes live in the bottom earth, beneath the roots of trees and rock.

Fire
Salamanders, basilisks and dragons exist in fire, flames and volcanoes.
