Abaia

In the Melanesian mythology, the Abaia is a large magical eel. It dwells at the bottom of freshwater lakes in the islands of Solomon, Vanuatu and Fiji, protecting all life in the lakes from anyone who would harm them, and if someone would try to catch anyone of them, the Abaia thrashes its powerful tail, causing a huge wave.
