Camlet Moat

A small moated isle on the outskirts of Trent Park in North London. It was known as Camelot in the Middle Ages. Various places around there were referred to as North Camelot, East Camelot, West Camelot and Camelot Hill. In the twelfth century Geoffrey de Mandeville, Earl of Essex, lived there.

A local legend says he met his end by falling down a well there, but in fact he died elsewhere in 1144.
