Gruddieu

Grudyen

One of the seven survivors of the expedition to Ireland mounted by Bendigeid Vran to avenge the treatment of his sister Branwen by Matholwch. He and his six compatriots carried the severed head of Bedigeid Vran back from Ireland and buried it, after a lengthy journey, under the White Mount in London. Gruddieu's companions are named as Pryderi, Manawydan, Taliesin, Ynawc (Ynawag), Glifieu and Heilyn.

They brought the unfortunate Branwen home with them, but she died of a broken heart when she sat down and thought of the destruction wreaked on her behalf.
