Lampart

Lambard, Lanpar, Lanpart, Lupars

The lord of Galigant and seneschal of Esmeree the Blonde, Queen of Wales.

He instituted a custom in his castle whereby any knight coming to seek lodging for the night would have to joust with him. If the knight knocked down Lampart, he would have the best of lodging, but if Lampart defeated the knight, the knight would be covered with filth and run out of town by the villagers.

Gawain’s son Guinglain - traveling as the 'Fair Unknown' - defeated Lampart and won the right to a good night’s lodging. Lampart then accompanied Guinglain to his adventure at the Desolate City.
