Launfal

Launfal was a prince from a far-away country at the court of King Arthur. He was chivalric, modest, generous but did not like Queen Guenevere for not being faithful to her king and husband. The antipathy were from both sides and soon he leaved the court and went out in the world.

He made a bond with the fairy princess Tryamour. He stayed with her for a while before he returned to the court with the knowledge that he could meet the fairy whenever he wanted, but only if he kept quiet about it.

He returned to his old life, but Guenevere made him understand that she wanted a relationship with him. He explained he already had a lady, who was much more beautiful than the queen. Hurt she accused Launfal before the king that he had done inappropriated advances towards her and for insulting her by saying he knew someone who was more lovely than her. King Arthur then demanded Launfal to prove it.

Launfal had broken his promise to Tryamour and called for her in vain for a long time, but when the king declaired a death sentence over him she stepped in to the hall and the whole court were struck by her beauty.

Without even a look on Launfal she again left the hall, but he followed her, and when she finally understood that he rather give up life than her she took him with her to the Fairyland.
