Severus

    1. Severus

A Roman senator and general sent by the senate to pacify Britain after the death of King Lucius in the late second century. Nennius says that he was the third Roman emperor to cross to Britain.

Severus, leading Romans and Roman-loyal Britons, became immersed in a great war with the Briton duke, Sulgenius. He and Sulgenius were killed in a battle at York; after his death, Severus’s sons, Geta and Bassianus, vied for the kingdom.

    2. Severus

A Roman emperor who ruled in Britain after Maximus and before Constantine, Arthur’s grandfather. He split his time between Britain and Rome, and he died in Rome.
