   The illusory, magical lake in Benwick, Gaul, at the foot of a hill near Trebes Castle.

   Here the Damsel of the Lake took the young son of King Ban and Queen Elaine and disappeared with him into her lake, where she raised him. Of course, it only looked like a lake to the uninitiated; it was really a rich city.
