Gilla

    1. Gilla

In Hughes' Misfortunes of Arthur a British earl who supported Mordred in his rebellion against Arthur. Mordred offered him Cornwall for his support. Hughes may have taken him from Geoffrey's Gillapatric, Gillasel, or Gillarn.

A Gilla, perhaps a different person, is mentioned in Culhwch (see below).

    2. Gilla Coes Hydd
      'Gilla Stag Shank'

One of Arthur's warriors in Welsh legend, who could leap three hundred acres in a single bound. For this reason, he was called "the chief leaper of Ireland".

      Notes
      - Coes means 'handle', 'leg', 'stern', 'stalk'.
      - Hydd means 'stag'.
