Saracens
Sarasins, Sarazenes, Sarrasins, Sarrazins
A generic term for the Arabic tribes of the Middle East, especially Syria. Grail legend holds that the race took its name from the city of Sarras.
Arthour and Merlin and Malory replace the Saxon invasion of Britain with an invasion of Saracens, although since both races were not Christians, the authors may have intended the same people. Groups of Saracens also joined Rome’s war with Arthur.
Other Saracens invaded Cornwall but were repelled by Prince Bodwyne (Boudwin), King Mark’s brother.
