Taneborc

Baillon, Taneburgh

A strong castle at the entrance of Norgales, this may have been one of Arthur's own fortresses.

It was, at least, a place at which he stayed sometimes, perhaps even a court city. Here, three days after holding court at Cardiff, at a time when he was preparing for war against King Claudas, Arthur received intelligence of Claudas' own preparations across the Channel.

At Taneborc, also, Arthur held at least one tournament, after which he and Guenevere spent the night at his castle of Tauroc.

It is variously thought identical with Edinburgh or Oswestry.
