A beautiful sorceress in Spenser’s The Faerie Queene who ruled the Bower of Bliss, a garden that contained all things arousing to the physical senses.
Her custom was to lure knights into the Bower and turn them into animals. Gloriana, the Fairy Queen, sent Sir Guyon to destroy the Bower. Guyon resisted Acrasia’s seductions, captured her, and destroyed her garden.
