One of Arthur’s warriors in Welsh legend who accompanies Arthur on the search for the two dogs of Glythvyr Ledewig.
The name must be closely related with Gwri Golden Hair, a name given to the infant Pryderi in the non-Arthurian Welsh story of Pwyll. He is probably also connected with Gwrfan Wild Hair.
In Welsh, “golden hair” is gwallt-euryn, which R. S. Loomis suggests as the origin of the name Gawain.
