Gwenhwyach

‘Gwen the Small’
Gwenhwyvach

The sister of Gwenhwyfar in Welsh tradition. She lived at Arthur’s court. Culhwch calls her one of the Gold-torqued Women of Britain (Gold-torqued Maidens of Britain).

Two Welsh Triads say that the battle of Camlann somehow began when Gwenhwyach struck Gwenhwyfar.

In Thomas Love Peacock’s Misfortunes of Elphin (1829), Gwenhwyvach is married to Mordred.
