Gareth and Lynette, on their way to save her sister, Lyonors, from four brothers who are holding her prisoner in her castle, comes upon a ford in a river. It is guarded by Sir Morning Star, who has three beautiful damsels arm him for a fight.
Gareth defeats Morning Star and forces Lynette to save the man’s life by asking it of him, then sends the knight to Arthur for justice.
Morning Star’s brothers were the Noonday Sun, Evening Star, and Death.
Found in Tennyson, he corresponds to the Blue Knight in Malory.
