A ruler of Northumberland, who organized a tournament at Banborc to find a husband for his daugher, Andrivete. When he died, his brother, Ayglin, tried to marry the maiden to a commoner, but Kay saved and wed her.
He passed into the Arthurian cycle when Cei became known, within those stories, as Sir Kay.
