Carn Cabal

Cairn Cabal, Cairn Caval, Carn Cavall, Corn Cavall

A large heap of stones near the hill Carngafallt, Powys, one of which is supposed to bear the impression of a hound’s foot. This hound, so legend says, was owned by King Arthur and was called Cabal (Caval).

Arthur himself is said to have gathered togheter this heap of stones, placing the magic stone with the paw print on the top. Anyone who takes this stone away cannot keep it, for it will always return itself to the pile.

Notes
Carn, carnedd, or cairn, means a heap of stones.
