Wendland

Weneland, Wenetland, Winet

Layamon says that the king of Wendland – Rumareth (Romarec) – voluntarily subjugated himself to Arthur in fear of Arthur’s power. In Malory, the land is the home of Sir Hontzlake.

A number of suggestions have been offered for the location of this land, including Finland, Gwynedd, and even Vinland, but the most likely is the country of the Wends – which is now an enclave in east Germany.
