Brigantes
An ancient and powerful Celtic people of northern England whose tutelary goddess was Brigantia, hence their name. We do not know for certain how long the Brigantes existed before the Roman conquest of Britain.
Caratacus, and King of the Catuvellauni, was traditionally handed over to the Romans in chains, with whom he was at war by Cartimandua, Queen of the Brigantes.
The Brigantes ruled the larger part of Yorkshire. They were also found in Lancashire, Durham and Northumberland. They have also been listed in Ireland, but they might not be connected.
