Maglaurus
The Duke of Albany, one of the husbands of Regan, who was one of the older daughters of King Leir, her sister of a comparable age being Goneril.
Together with Regan's other husband, Henwinus, Duke of Cornwall, and Regan, he helped Goneril seize what remained of Leir's kingdom after he had given each of these daughters one-quarter as their dowry. Their younger sister Cordelia, who had nothing to do with the deceit, remained faithful to her father, went to France and married King Aganippus.
Maglaurus originally allowed Leir to retain in retinue of 140 men, but Goneril reduced this to eighty. Regan had her turn and reduced it to five, before Goneril finally reduced it to just one man.
Leir left for France, where Cordelia and her husband raised an army and restored him to the throne for the last three years of his life.
