‘the Accursed’, ‘the Simple’
Merlan
The King of the Scottish Borderlands, called “the Simple” or “the Accursed” because of his evil ways.
He hanged his own father, imprisoned a number of maidens, and impoverished his own people. He was eventually slain in joust by Lancelot, much to the joy of his subjects.
