Petronius

Petroines, Petrone

A scribe who served Merlin.

According to Medieval tradition, he founded Oxford University and there, also, wrote down Merlin’s prophecies.

In the Vulgate Lancelot, he was the eight of the ten clerks whom Arthur sent to Galeholt’s court, where he helps his lord interpret a disturbing dream.

He seems to have been the most prominent clerk after Helyes of Tholouse.
