Shalott

Another name for Astolat, made well known to English readers by Tennyson’s “Lady of Shalott.”

This form of the place name occured as Scalot in the Italian La damigiella di Scalot and as Scalliotta in Lancialotto Pancianti-chiano, from which we get the English “Shalott.”
