A descendant of Arthur and heroine of the romance Cleriadus et Meliadice, published in Paris in 1495. The author of the work is unknown, but it is believed to have been based on earlier French and English romances.
Meliadice is a noblewoman who is the object of Cleriadus’ love. She is depicted as a beautiful and virtuous woman who is admired by many knights, but it is Cleriadus who ultimately wins her heart.
The romance between Cleriadus and Meliadice is a central theme of the story, and two characters are often portrayed as models of chivalric behaviour and courtly love.
