Champion of courtesy, assigned by Gloriana, the Fairy Queen, to capture the Blatant Beast.
After a number of adventures, he became fascinated with the life of shepherds and digressed from his quest to become one of them. He fell in love with the shepherdess Pastorella. When she was abducted by pirates, Calidore rescued her, and discovered along the way that she was a princess. He eventually returned to his quest and captured the Blatant Beast after a struggle.
