The Forest of Dean is a historic woodland area in the western part of Gloucestershire, England.

In Welsh legend, Arthur’s chief forester in Dean was Madawg son of Twrgadarn.

The Welsh story of Geraint begins with a great hunt for a magnificent stag in the forest. In Tennyson, it is named as a forest through which Pelleas rode during his adventures.
