Kanadic

Kanedic

A land in German Arthurian texts which may derive from Cambenic.

In Wolfram’s Parzival, it is the location of a sparrowhawk tournament, where Duke Orilus of Lalander defeated eight Knights of the Round Table.

According to Der Pleier, in Garel, the land was ruled first by Queen Florie, who died from grief following the slaying of her lover Ilinot, Arthur’s son. It fell to the hands of Kloudite, Florie’s sister, who married King Ekunaver. The latter went to war with Arthur and was defeated in Kanadic by Garel of the Blooming Valley.
