Angledis
Daughter of Ranner.
When King Mark killed his brother and her husband, Prince Boudwin (Bodwyne), Anglides escaped Cornwall to Magouns Castle (Castle Magance) in Sussex with her young son, Alisander le Orphelin.
The Constable of Magouns, Sir Bellangere (Bellengerus), who was married to Anglides’ cousin, told Anglides that the castle was hers by inheritance. Anglides raised Alisander there. When he was knighted, she gave him his father’s bloody doublet and shirt, told him how Mark had stabbed Boudwin before her eyes, and charged her son to avenge the deed.
