Bryn Myrddin

Merlin’s Hill, Merlin’s Mound

Bryn Myrddin is situated on a hill overlooking the town of Carmarthen in Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is believed to be the burial mound of Merlin, also known as Myrddin or Merlinus in Welsh folklore, with his magical powers believed to be connected to the hill.

The hill itself has historical and archaeological importance beyond its mythical associations. It is an ancient burial mound or tumulus dating back to prehistoric times. The exact origins and purpose of the mound, however, are not conclusively determined.
