Veuve Dame de la Gaste Forest Soutaine

Dame Vueve de la Forest

According to Vulgate VII, she was the mother of Sir Agloval.

At one time, and in some versions, King Pellinore seems to have been identical with King Pelles/Pellam, the Maimed King, and so on.

Sommer appears to have been more or less on top in differentiating Pellinore and Pellam. I incline to accept “La Veuve Dame…” as the nearest thing I have yet uncovered to a name for Pellinore’s wife and the mother of his sons in wedlock.

In Vulgate VII, she appears to be ruling over a number of subjects, and this is not incompatible with the standard tale of Percivale and his mother.
