Lac du Bourget

Lake Bourget

Lac du Bourget is the largest natural lake in France located in the Savoie region in the French Alps. At the shores of the lake is the town of Aix-les-Bains, which has been a popular thermal spa destination since Roman times.

It is said that Arthur was said killed a giant cat here, a fact that is commemorated in local names such as Mont du Chat (Mountain of the Cat), Dent du Chat (Cat’s Tooth) and Col du Chat (Cat’s Neck).

It is possible that this animal was a Capalu, the continental name for the Cath palug.
