Mont du Chat

“Mountain of the Cat” and “Cat Mountain”

Mont du Chat is a mountain is part of the Jura Mountains range in the eastern French Alps. It is situated near the western shore of Lake Bourget, one of the largest natural lakes in France.

This is the supposed site, in the Alps, of a fight between Arthur and a large cat. This is apparently a Continental version of the Cath Palug legend.

A Savoyard was thought to have met Arthur’s men at night in the vicinity of this mountain and to have been brought by them to a palace which had vanished in the morning.
