Lance of Longinus

Longinus’ Spear

The lance with which the centurion Longinus was said to have pierced the side of Jesus while the latter hung on the Cross following the Crucifixion (Saint John 19:34). This has led to it also being known as the Bleeding Lance.

It has become associated with the Holy Grail, being carried in the Grail Procession and being sought by Melora, the warrior daughter of Arthur.
