In Spenser, half man, half satyr knight who inhabited the woods and protected the maiden Una after the Red Cross Knight abandoned her. Satyrane later fought with a giantess named Argante but was knocked unconscious, only to be saved by a strange knight.
He became the companion of the warrior maiden Britomart, Arthur, and Artegall.
