Slaughter Bridge

Slaughter Bridge is a location in Cornwall, England, near the town of Camelford. It is not a bridge in the conventional sense.

It is known for its historical and legendary associations, particularly with King Arthur. One of the most famous stories linked to Slaughter Bridge is the legend of Arthur’s death.

According to some versions of the Arthurian legend, King Arthur fought Mordred and was mortally wounded in a battle, and after the Battle of Camlann – which has been suggested to have taken place here – he was taken to Slaughter Bridge where he handed his sword, the famous Excalibur to Sir Bedivere, instructing him to throw it into the lake.

In some accounts, it is at Dozmary Pool – the home of the Lady of the Lake – which is nearby, that Sir Bedivere throws Excalibur into the water.
